Fridays (age P1-P4) 3:00 - 4:00pm (22nd, 29th Aug; 5th, 19th, 26th Sept; 3rd, 10th Oct)
I just love sharing this time each week with the children. It’s a special time-out of the week, exploring the garden and looking at the plants and animals we share this growing space with.
As always, each week we’ll focus on one herb in a little more detail, and we’ll add pages to our binders building the collection of notes and ideas with useful plants.
You’ll prepare a page recording the plant of the week, created in a way which expresses your own interest in the plant and its properties. Together we’ll make observations and impressions, notes and ideas on its uses. The idea is that over the weeks you can gather a collection of knowledge, guided by the seasons, the plants, and coming together as your very own ‘materia medica’. There will be a something practical to make each week too: a remedy, recipe to taste, or something for nature: a seed, cutting or another way of giving back to nature.
Healthy minds, healthy bodies, healthy environments.
Adults can choose to stay or drop off. The group size is limited to 8 young people per session; please book a place for each sibling, to ensure this ratio is met. Please get in touch with any questions, liz@thehoneybeesanctuary.org
I have been hosting kids' herbalism workshops at The Honeybee Sanctuary for a year now, and come to realise what an inspired, nature-loving, creative community of young people we have here! I just love to watch their knowledge and connection with nature grow - I’m told how much the kids love spending time in the herb garden and apothecary too. I'm delighted to offer this weekly club here at The Honeybee Sanctuary in the heart of North Berwick.
NOTE:
Liz will be the only adult leading this workshop. She holds a PVG Scheme Membership Statement certificate with Disclosure Scotland in respect of regulated work with children, and is not barred from this regulated work (PVG membership number 1707 3104 3044 0352). Please get in touch with Liz (liz@thehoneybeesanctuary.org) if you have any concerns or questions.
Liz is insured with BGi.uk, through Foyht membership as Liz Thomas t/a The Honeybee Sanctuary, for carrying out activities in Herbalism, Reiki and Horticultural Therapy. Included are Products Liability, Public Liability, and Professional Indemnity & Malpractice. Certificates and details are available on request.
